CONSTRAINED BY LOVE

DAY 168

2 Corinthians 5:14 For the love of Christ constraineth us; because we thus judge, that if one died for all, then were all dead:

Some people are seen as boring or old school. Their refusal to join the masses in deciding to indulge in particular habits and actions is deemed regrettable. ‘You are missing out’, and ‘are you the only one who wants to make heaven?’ are some of the feedback such people deal with. This can make this choice twice as hard to make.

The easiest way out would seem to give in and comply, to follow the road of the crowd. But no, some persist, and with such persistence comes a price to pay – the loss of some meaningful relationships and strategic connections.

Yet, today St Paul tells us the real reason many will and should stay: ‘because the Love of God constrains us’. It isn’t because we are unable to or cannot do somethings, it is because we tied by the cords of a constraining love. The paths on which we are permitted to tread, have been selected. And surely, neither are we missing out on anything because they that seek the Lord, shall lack nothing good (Ps 34:10).

Beloved, stay constrained by the love of God.
