DAY 166
Matthew 5:25 Before you are dragged into court, make friends with the person who has accused you of doing wrong. If you don't, you will be handed over to the judge and then to the officer who will put you in jail.
Regardless of how gifted men are, no man is gifted in all things.
You may know a bit about a few things, but no person can occupy every single position of influence across every sphere of life. That is why jurisdiction exists – it marks the demarcation of boundaries so that roles and responsibilities can be delineated.
Such delineation allows for the gaining of mastery and thorough understanding to maximise impact. It is interesting that between the prison and the accused, there were three levels of transfer- the accused to the judge, the judge to the officer, then the officer to the prison.
Scripture highlights each step to cause us to appreciate jurisdiction. Not every job is yours! I know this might sound like a dereliction of task, but you know it is true. You are not accountable for everything and everyone, only some things.
It is just that we are often pushed to lay on our shoulders much more than is required in the scope of our influence. Until we begin to appreciate what our assignments are, and how that feeds into the roles of others, we may continue to do everything when we are called to do ‘something’.
