DAY 123

1 Cor 15:1 Now, brothers, I want to remind you of the gospel I preached to you, which you received, and in which you stand firm.
The word of God is such an interesting collection. While it is presented as a double edged sword, able to divide even bone and marrow, another could hear it and it would of non-effect because it is received in unbelief.
Today, Saint Paul reminds the Corinthians about the Gospel he preached to them ‘which they received and in which they stand’- only then did it have capacity to save them. A further buttress of his letter to the Church in Rome ‘I am not ashamed of the Gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to Salvation for everyone who believes.(Rom 1:16)’
It is therefore our reception and believing of its contents that activates the power dimension of the Gospel. If you treat the Gospel and God’s Word as a collection of fairytales and well written works of literature, that is all it will be to you. It’s depth, riches and ability to transform you into a sharpened arrow for God’s quiver will be missed entirely.
