DAY 116

John 6:38 For I have come down from heaven not to do my will but to do the will of him who sent me.
‘”Today, I will do whatever I want and say whatever I want’. That sounds very much like a regular pep talk you might tell yourself at some point in life. Yet, todays verse sends the opposite message to the effect that ‘you can neither do whatever you want nor say whatever you want’.
In fact, you a walk a very tight rope with a predefined template of what your doings and sayings should entail. Why? Because you are not sent here on your own accord, you are here as an ambassador.
As much as we would like to think that we can say and do whatever we want, our presence on this earth is in response to a question that requires answering here. That is why we cannot live our lives in free gear, without controls or boundaries. Our entire walk is a contribution to a fulfilment of the will of God with, and through our lives.
That might sound like a tough demand, but it is certainly a thought worth bearing in mind whenever you feel like you’ve lost your bearings or are unsure what to live for. You ought to remind yourself that:
‘my presence here on earth is an answer to a specific question’.
Yours is to work with God to find that question, so you can begin to answer it.
