DAY 109

John 3:19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.
When you find yourself behind a door that you consider an impediment, you are in a form of ‘ a prison’ because you are hindered from doing whatever you wanted. As we consider doors and prisons as the first reading highlights, we notice that after the angel of the Lord opened the prison doors, the Apostles went out to complete the assignment they had been given.
Mind you, the key word is the ”going”. “This suggests the Apostles had another choice, which would have been to stay put if they deem the prison a better bet and a safer space than the outside. Simply put, not everyone has the courage to walk out of a prison even when the doors are wide open.
Therefore, just because light is available does not mean it will be embraced. Even when gross darkness will be overcome by light, going for that light often is a matter of choice. Much likened to one opting to stay in a prison even when all the doors are ajar.
Beloved, opportunities do present themselves, sometimes in hidden faces but also in ready-to-claim variations. They however don’t become our realities just because we can see them, we have to choose to take up opportunities.
For as long as one does not opt for light, darkness will persist. Until you take up the opportunities that come your way when God opens doors to you, frustration and disappointment will appear as close allies.
