DAY 106

The people I encounter on a daily basis in my line of work always present points for learning. Personally, they offer an opportunity to reflect on the word of God and to see its applicability in real time. Recently, I encountered an individual who out of fear, dared not to close his eyes. Even with heavy eyes with sleep and the odds all stuck against him, he would persist to stay awake doing all that is humanly possible.
While thinking about this whole encounter, this Psalm came to mind ‘
‘for He gives to His beloved sleep'(Psalm 127:2). Personally, I know I don’t struggle to fall asleep, and that can very easily be taken for granted. Our appreciation of the little things which seemingly require the least effort is therefore in dire supply.
When we are asked what we are grateful for, we might go searching for the big and magnificent things. We have many reasons to be grateful to God and to others, but we are always so busy looking for the things we don’t have that those we do posses seem of no value to us. Yet, we are invited to be grateful for all things: for sunshine, for rain, for joy, for pain, for breath, for sleep, for life, for faith, for family. Literally, we have 10000 reasons to be grateful.
