DAY 99

John 20:4-5 So they ran both together: and the other disciple did outrun Peter, and came first to the sepulchre. And he stooping down, and looking in, saw the linen clothes lying; yet went he not in.
You run to be first in any race, but the first is not always the recipient of what is sought. At least, that is one message the Gospel of today reveals to us. Both Peter and the other disciple run, he outrun Peter and got to the tomb FIRST, yet all he did was to stoop down to look.
Often times, we fail to acknowledge what it actually means to be first. to be the the first born child in your family, the first to do something, or the first to arrive at a particular pinnacle or destination. Why didn’t the disciple run straight into the tomb? After all, he was the first to arrive.
Beloved, arriving first or setting the pace requires you to brave all the initial risks to make decisions and choices with unknown outcomes. It require you to face unknown fears, unwitnessed challenges and incomprehensible obstacles. Without mincing words then, it takes more than speed to be the FIRST, tremendous courage is an additional necessity.
Speed can give you an advantage in life, no doubt, but it takes more than speed to attain. You will require courage and boldness because without these, the advantage you gained with speed will simply be lost.
