IT TAKES A SPARK TO START A FIRE

DAY 98

In choosing a bulb, the luminosity of the light is taken into account depending on the size of the area to be illuminated. But make no mistake, even in the presence of the dimmest light, darkness begins to give way.

On Holy Saturday, the service of light begins with the Pascal candle being lit and from it, every other candle is lit. As I stood at Mass today, these words came to mind ‘it only takes one light’. And how true that is!
Jesus did not make a mistake when he said ‘ let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and give glory to your father in heaven.’

In the darkness, all that is needed is light. And where the light shines, the darkness comprehended it not. We have received the light of Christ, and as recipients of this, we are mandated to be transmitters of this light. We cannot therefore turn off the brightness of our lights at any point in time because we show others the way to Jesus, the source of our light.

Beloved, just like a small spark is all that may be needed to set an entire forest on fire, all it takes is one lit candle, and many others can will catch the light. ‘Ye are the light of the world and a city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.” So again, let your light so shine before men that they may see your good works and glorify your father in heaven'(Mt 5:14,16).
