RESET YOUR PRIORITIES

DAY 91

John 11:48 If we let him go on like this, everyone will believe in him, and the Romans will come and take away both our place and our nation.”

Saying Yes to Jesus and choosing to walk in partnership with the Holy Spirit is a decision which carries the same weight at every point in time. It requires coming to a conclusion that ‘in the beginning, God’. Hence, a conscious effort must be made to make God the priority, well above everything else.

Outside this decision, everything else does not have the same impact every time. Across different seasons of life, priorities will change. What was thus paramount in one season, might not have much of a relevance in another season. This is not unusual because such change is often born out of growth, relocation or a re-orientation and realigning of relationships.

The Jews in the day of Jesus were clear in the order of priorities: their place and their nation. Losing the temple would mean a loss of their status, their power and their influence; that was not an outcome they wanted to deal with. In addition, they understood the time sensitive nature of getting those priorities right.

There are clear times when some specific actions are weightier than others. It should therefore not become a burden to reset and reorient our priorities even as we journey through life.
