DAY 86

Psalms 23:1 The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.
There is an insight we glean from David when we explore his life and his relationship with God. In multiple Psalms, we see his posture towards God and notice it was always from personalised experience. In referring to God, he uses the endearing word “MY” multiple times. So in today’s Psalm we read ‘the Lord is MY shepherd’.
This is a build up from Psalm 18 where David declares “The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high Tower “(vs 2)
It might seem like a selfish claim of many things from God, but that was David’s experience and so should in no way impact our very own personal encounters with God. Therefore, beyond the corporate setting, each of us is invited into personal fellowship with Jesus. Personal enough that we can identify a dimension of God that characterises our walk with Him.
He may have been David’s rock, shepherd and deliverer, but what is God to you personally? Remember that His name is: “I AM THAT I AM”- He can become all that you need Him to be for you. However, that revelational knowledge has to be personalised – only then does it become your reality.
