DAY 38

Mark 7:9 And he said unto them, Full well ye reject the commandment of God, that ye may keep your own tradition.
Sometimes, the Word of God may sound as simple as “love your neighbour as yourself”, but by embracing the dynamics, indices and requirements of love as set within the scope of the same Word, we realise how much of a gap exists between what God means when He says love and what men mean by the same word.
To put it plain and simple: the word of God is hard. It is no real surprise then that we have opted for an adulterated version of the commandments stipulated in there by sprinkling and mixing it with the wisdom of men. What God said no longer carries as much weight as our fine and dexterous of using words to make ourselves feel good.
However, by doing so we have created two streams of worship: one proceeding from our lips and the other from our hearts. We speak obedience and surrender on our lips, yet every fibre of our heart lives in complete rebellion. We disregard the word of God without as much as flinching and will close our eyes to its truth if it so much as questions the wisdom of the world.
It is worth noting though that across generations of human lives, the wisdom of the world has continually evolved. Yet, the Word of God has remained the same – heaven and earth will pass away, but they will be outlived by the Word.
