DAY 9

Acts 10:34-35 So Peter opened his mouth and said: “Truly I understand that God shows no partiality, But in every nation whoever fears Him and works righteousness is accepted by Him.
Two requirements were necessary for men of every nation to be acceptable before God within the context of Him being no respect of persons. The two as captured in the framework of the scripture we read today are:
1. A man who fears God
2. A man who does what is right
The second of the two is to express the nature of God which is ‘goodness’ because having being created in his image and likeness, it is expected that our functioning is like Him. This dimension to gain acceptance is a dependent on the choice of actions- preferring good over evil, and light over darkness.
This fear of God is not the kind observed when there is imminent or potential danger, it is one that proceeds from reverence and awe, which consequently sponsors obedience.
The man who fears the Lord “receives the investment of His [God’s] trust”.
And there is no greater acknowledgement on earth than for the Monarch of the Universe to say to anyone ‘ I can trust you as my partner ‘.
So beloved, two statements to challenge us on our walk: ‘fear God and do right’.
