A REASON FOR ABUNDANCE

DAY 8

Isaiah 60:5 Then you will look and be radiant, your heart will throb and swell with joy; the wealth on the seas will be brought to you, to you the riches of the nations will come.

You will very likely be delighted when your barns are full and the riches of nations are laid at your door. Even the most hard-hearted can afford a grin in this circumstances so Isaiah’s description of a thrilling and throbbing heart is very accurate.

Do you remember the story of the rich man whose field yielded an abundant harvest? He told himself “Soul, you have many goods laid up for many years; take your ease; eat, drink, and be merry.” ’(Luke 12:19). And just like Isaiah described, his abundance gave a enough of a reason to be delighted.

Yet, the question that came to mind when I compared the two scenarios was “what would you do with such abundance?” That is where many of us get lost. We are unable to rightly appropriate what we have been given. This goes beyond material wealth, but the wealth of gifts, relationships and grace.

Because we have yet identified the purpose and intention behind our abundance, we don’t seem to know what to do with it. However, you can be sure that God has a Kingdom expansion plan in mind with whatever He gives, particularly when it is much

“From everyone who has been given much, much will be required; and to whom they entrusted much, of him they will ask all the more “(Luke 12:48)
