WHAT DOES GOD WANT FROM YOU?

DAY 5

Yesterday, the question Jesus asked the disciples was one we were meant to give careful consideration to: ‘what do you want?’ And for emphasis, the object of this question was God himself so the question equated to ‘what do you want from God’.

Today, a follow up question came to mind that I believe is also to he considered in conjunction with the first: “what does God want from me?”

We might say God is All powerful and Almighty- there is no cap to the extent of His power so what would He want from us? Is there anything of value we wield that is of interest to God? As I thought about this, a clause came to mind “My son, give me your heart” (Proverbs 23:26)

Your heart not literally the organ, but the very seat of your persona- submit your will to mine and let me lead. God asks for the heart because no one knows it as much as He does, He searches it out (Jer 17:10). The one area men will do all to guard is their will. So surrendering control for another to be in charge of its reins can be scary, but that is what God wants.

Because until we are truly ‘given’, we cannot be fully given.
