Luke 21:29-30 He told them this parable: “Look at the fig tree and all the trees. When they sprout leaves, you can see for yourselves and know that summer is near.
There are ways to tell when seasons change. From Autumn heading into winter, temperature plummets into single figures, leaves begin to fall and there is a general chill in the air. Anyone who has observed this occur just one can tell we are transitioning.
As Jesus spoke to his disciples, He highlights the presence of indicators and pointers to alert anyone that seasons are changing, and that is important. It is rather difficult to tell exactly what moment these changes in season happen, but you can be certain that unless you acknowledge, prepare for and adapt accordingly, you are likely to find many new seasons burdensome.
In fact, you could very easily miss the advantages entire seasons bring. In our lives, we won’t have actual leaves fall or real temperature dips, but there will be things that communicate transitioning to us rather explicitly. Whenever we miss those signs, we recycle seasons and will find ourselves stuck in a rut.
Therefore, let us be attentive to the indicators God brings our way, particularly where new seasons are near, so we can prepare to make the most of every transition.
