Luke 19:3,4 And he sought to see Jesus who he was; and could not for the press, because he was little of stature. And he ran before, and climbed up into a sycomore tree to see him: for he was to pass that way.
There are some things which create exemptions to certain situations. If you have the keys to a door, you do not have to knock, you simply unlock the door and journey through. In any other circumstance, you have to find another way in.
We read about Zacchaeus, a man whose encounter with Jesus highlighted the strengths of effective planning. He was wealthy man and had a well paying job. Yet, these two traits did not take away the fact that he was of small stature. With his intention then to see Jesus impeded by the crowd, He made up his mind to come up with a plan and so run on ahead.
He mapped out the potential path of Jesus’ journey, found a tree a person of his stature could climb and from the branches of that tree, he first encountered Jesus. There was no hint of luck about this achievement- it was the fruit of meticulous planning and prompt execution.
I once heard ‘I plan for everything, even the things I don’t plan for’ because failing to plan, is planning to fail. Even as God guides us, let us employ the grace afforded us through our mind to receive inspiration because then we can begin to perceive and plan the path that leads from where we are, to here we aspire to get to.
