APPRECIATE THE JOURNEY

297/365

Things don’t just grow and people don’t just manifest out of no where!

Jesus was drawing comparisons today and makes one that was rather eye catching:

What is the kingdom of God like? And to what shall I compare it?  It is like a mustard seed, which a man took and planted in his own garden; and it grew and became a TREE, and the birds of the sky found shelter and nested in its branches.” (Luke 13:18-19)

Whenever we read these verses, our minds ARE likely turned to the grandeur of the “MUSTARD TREE” because it provides shelter and nesting ground. However, the birds were drawn only to the tree, not the seed. They had no idea what the tiny mustard seed had to endure – the prospects of never making it out of the ground, the worry of never reaching its maximum potential, the discouragement of looking too small at the start.

The same is true for people- many who are drawn to the shelter of anyone’s greatness are often oblivious of the journey it took to get there. Hence, the breakdown of the journey ‘taking, planting, growing, and becoming a tree’; each stage posing its own unique challenges.

Beloved, if it is lasting growth you desire, then don’t be so quick to draw half-baked conclusions about everybody, particularly those you refer to as ‘masters at what they do’. Instead, make efforts to appreciate their journeys to “BECOMING”. There will be lessons for your own learning.
