2 Timothy 4:11 Only Luke is with me. Get Mark and bring him with you, for he is useful to me for ministry.
When you live with a group of people for long enough, both consciously and unconsciously, you gather intelligence about them. You begin to find out what they are good at, what they find difficult, or what sets them off. With time, you get to know what each of them can add to, or subtract from you.
That accounts for why in certain types of tasks, we are hopeful of success when certain individuals are in our team. The same accounts for our disappointment when others are drawn to join us. Paul had done the same and had identified that ‘Mark was useful and profitable to the ministry’ and so he asked for his presence.
You can claim to possess favour, value, excellence, joy, peace, kindness; the list goes on. However, will they stay just claims or are they so evident in you life that they are discernable from a distance and accessible when requested for ?
Don’t for once think that no one knows the value or lack of value you hold. You will get a massive reality check if you make this discovery too late. You may have innate value “you think you wield”, but that value has to be discernable by others because only then can demands be placed on the grace that you carry.
