DON’T DESPISE YOUR STORY

276/365

Galatians 1:13 For you have heard of my former way of life in Judaism, that beyond exceeding measure I was persecuting the church of God and was destroying it.

There are many people in the world whose stories can be repeated over and over again because it is their story, no one else has it. I may not know volumes about Nelson Mandela but I know he was in prison for 27 years before he became president of South Africa. That was his story.

Many of us despise our stories, hence the journeys that got us to where we are now do not seem to mean much to us. Your story might not be as dramatic or full of cinematic effects like that of the person next to you, but it is your very own unique story. The highs and lows, ups and downs, laughter and tears, the good and the bad – they all aggregate to be your story to tell.

Paul could tell every single audience he encountered about his former life: ‘I was as zealous to destroy this Gospel as I am in teaching it’, and many would buttress that story. God needed Paul life’s story exactly as it was detailed for the assignment he had prepared for him: his knowledge of the law, his training under Gamaliel and his zeal to pursue what he believed as truth.

Thus, in due season, he stepped right into post with his story intact. And what an impact that generated. So beloved, do not despise your story – it is a chapter of the whole epistle God is writing for you.
