WHO MAKES YOU RELENT?

253/365

God’s charges against Israel were valid and Israel was indeed blameworthy bevause they have done everything ‘themselves’. The charges read:
They have corrupted themselves
They have not walked I the way I showed
They have made for themselves a golden calf and worshipped it as their god”.

On these grounds, an equivalent and proportionate response was not out of order as God proposed to Moses: ‘allow me to wipe them all out and restart with you’. However, after the discourse with Moses, we read ‘

and the LORD relented and did not bring on his people the disaster he had threatened' (Exodus 32:14).

This scene jumped right out at me and I asked myself a question I would want you to also ponder on ‘who can make you relent?’ Or in another way ‘who can make your anger subside or at least trigger a rethink when you are about to make a move that could have significant repercussions on yourself and others? Who do you’ wrestle’ your thoughts with?

God is sovereign and needs no counsellor or advisor, on that scripture is explicit (Romans 11:34). But, He has a partnership with men that makes room for us to plead our case with Him, and He listens. So you, who is in your circle that contributes to your counsel? Today might be the day you review this because their impact on your dealings could be more profound than you might think.
