Jeremiah 1:17 But you, Jeremiah, get yourself ready! Go and tell these people everything I instruct you to say. Do not be terrified of them, or I will give you good reason to be terrified of them.
God could have told Jeremiah: ‘get up and let’s go’. Why does He even bother telling him ‘get YOURSELF ready? Other versions render the same statement as ‘dress YOURSELF for work’
Notice the emphasis on ‘YOURSELF‘ – often, we go on with the idea that ‘God does not call the qualified, He qualifies the called’. You are within limits to go on this but in isolation, you are likely to wander into rough waters. Of course God calls the weak things of the world to shame the wise, yet it does not mean that the you now is all God needs you to be.
You have to get YOURSELF ready. For many, for God to use you in his vineyard does not necessarily have to be with a microphone in hand standing behind a pulpit. It could be in an alternative sphere of influence : academia, politics, healthcare, sports, you name it. Therefore, you may be required to complete that degree or participate in that programme. You may be required to train twice as hard and learn principles that are required.
Without those arsenals which YOU have to attain YOURSELF, you may not become the best person for what God wants to use you for.
