1 Thessalonians 1:3 We constantly remember before our God and Father your work of faith and your labor of love and your perseverance in hope in our Lord Jesus Christ.
We ought to always have reason to be joyful, a reason to ponder on the good we have achieved and celebrate them. Not that we rest permanently, down our tools and make merry in those achievements. It is rather a quick stopover to drink in the fact that we are not where we were yesterday.
Paul’s opening words to the church in Thessalonica was communicating this ‘we acknowledge your achievements before God. You have really done well”
Many people do not give themselves any room to breath, no room to celebrate – it is one thing after another. The excuse they offer is ‘there is more to be done!’ Undeniably so, but you wonder if they have ever taken a moment to wonder what exactly they have done or achieved thus far .
For some, coming to that realisation will mark a big turning point where they realise’ I need not be so hard on myself all the time, I actually deserve a pat on the back’. Beloved, give yourself a break and celebrate your achievements a bit.
