LIVE WITHIN YOUR MEANS

LIVE WITHIN YOUR MEANS

Matthew 18:24 When he began to settle, one was brought to him who owed him ten thousand talents

Beyond the fact that a person is successful or wealthy, there is a question of whether there are systems and structures in place to ensure the continuation or sustenance of that level of attainment. In that regard, the questions that come from today’s text are as follows:

  • Are you living within or are you living above your means?’
  • Are you forcing yourself to show up in seasons that you have not been ushered into nor engraced to function in?

Pretend until you become” seems to be a popular anthem these days with many employing habits, attitudes and ways of living that are well beyond their means. They therefore cling blindly to the law of attraction and forget about the law of time and seasons.

I literally find myself wondering how this servant found himself in debt worth thousands of talents. In fact, it is estimated that a talent in biblical times is equivalent to wages accumulated over 6000 days. So we’re looking at 60 million days of work. Using basic metrics of say 10 pounds per day, that’s a debt of 6 billion.

In effect then, this servant was in debt many multiples his wages and at all levels, that is a hefty sum to have on ones credit account. So beloved, scan your outlay and check if you are you living within or beyond your means? If you’re living a life of excesses just to please others, now may be the time to hit pause before you stretch past your elastic limit.

Be patient with what you have now and diligently live within those means. When your value appreciates with growth, you will enter higher dimensions of everything. ‘You don’t have to fake what can be real’.
