HE SENT HIS WORD

John 4:50 Go," Jesus replied, "your son will live." The man took Jesus at his word and departed.

After making a trip to see Jesus for his sick son, the nobleman in today’s Gospel may have found it quite disheartening that Jesus would question his faith by suggesting that it would only take a miracle for him to believe. However, in a way, he proved himself an exception to the words of Jesus by believing first without seeing any signs and wonders.

Mind you, there is a place for the power of God to be evidently manifested. A place and time when nothing will reach the hearts of men but a show of extraordinary power. However, this nobleman teaches us another step on the faith ladder – a place that should belong to those who have already encountered Jesus. That place where faith comes by hearing, and hearing the word of God.

Beloved, this reminds us of this word “He sent his he sent His word, and he healed their disease (Ps 107:20).” That is the same word which birthed the healing of the nobleman’s son. Thus, when God sends His word into your situation – will you believe it or will you wait for signs and wonders before believing ?
