Today’s parable is about an individual of royal descent who had to travel to receive kingship. Here is the text in context:
There was once a man descended from a royal house who needed to make a long trip back to headquarters to get authorization for his rule and then return. But the citizens there hated him. So they sent a commission with a signed petition to oppose his rule: ‘We don’t want this man to rule us.’ He was made king, however, and returned home (Luke 19:12,14-15)
The fact that the citizens did not want him as king, did not change his descent for he was born to reign and that was exactly what happened; he returned as king. You know sometimes we forget that it is not the opinion of people that matters, it is the word of God which is established. Yet too often, we allow what ‘they say’ to become the lamps that light our path and decide the course for our destinies.
My dear, if left entirely in the hands of some people, no one else would rise above the baseline: servants should remain in servitude and even kings live as though they had no royal blood in them. But that is clearly not what God wants, that outcome is an error because the dislike of people did not change the granting of authorization for this Prince to rule as King.
Today, be gently reminded that even though others will have their own ideas about you, those are not the determinants of who you are and what you will be. Those fall under the jurisdiction of the word of God, over which no other person has an override.
