THE VERY SAME GOOD END

Thursday: May 21, 2020

Acts 18:2-3 There he became acquainted with a Jew named Aquila, born in Pontus, who had recently arrived from Italy with his wife, Priscilla. They had been expelled from Italy as a result of Claudius Caesar’s order to deport all Jews from Rome. Paul lived and worked with them, for they were tentmakers just as he was.

When some instructions are given, we may see them as not in our interest and clearly holding the potential to create some discomfort. We could mention the call for a census prior to the birth of Jesus which led to such an influx of citizens that all the inns were full. Today’s text also presents a similar situation with a decree for all Jews to leave Rome. Thus, Aquila and his wife went to Corinth.

Yet, we conclude that regardless of the discomfort associated with every command issued, God knew what to do every step of the way. It seemed his plans for each of the lives mentioned, were drafted with these discomforts in mind. The wise men visited the stable, and till date, that image of the infant Jesus lying in swaddling clothes on stack of hay still resonates with each one of us. Aquila’s family also ended up hosting a great Apostle of the faith in Saint Paul.

Therefore my dear, while it is very possible that you may want to solely associate transitions, relocations and reassignments with significant discomforts or disappointments, you ought to also take some time out to consider the good that has come out of them. Surely, it couldn’t have been only doom and gloom because that is never the intent of God.

Regardless of the systems which are put in place, human decrees or laws that are passed, God is able to steer our paths to still align with and end in His very best. Do not let what is going on around you cause you to believe otherwise.
