Mark 4:37 And there arose a great storm of wind, and the waves beat into the ship so that it was now full.
Faced with the possibility of drowning, the disciples turned to Jesus, obviously frustrated because while they expected Him to do something about the current situation, for whatever reasons, ‘He was asleep on a pillow’- resting amidst the storms. Yet, that is an image I believe the Lord wants us to see clearly.
Jesus in return questioned the faith of his disciples because he expected them to at least know better- to be aware of the fact that He was in the boat with them. Even without they asking Him, there was no way Jesus was going to go down in that boat.
In our own lives, though we may not necessarily set sail, the Lord promises to be the cushion upon which our heads rest; such that even in the most boisterous of winds, most torrential of rains or strongest of quakes, we can still sleep soundly. He wants us to be at peace and find rest in Him regardless of what we face.
However, we often tend to think that we are alone on our journey. Our Lord has said to us ‘ I am with you always, until the end of time’- through the storms and fires of life, through the valleys and over the mountains- we never are alone because He is right there with us. All we need do sometimes is give him permission to intervene in our affairs and that is when he stands up for us.
Remember # When your knees hit the floor, God stands up for you; and when he stands up for you, nothing can stand against you.
